conceived in buffalo, unleashed in albany, and spreading like the plague over the entire east coast, doomsday virus is the post-industrial, grungy goth-rock spawn of singer/songwriter n.dru virus. the band began life as a solo project in 1997, with virus constructing songs as dirty, dingy, and dark as the upstate new york rust belt city from which he came.

drawing influence from the legends of "classic" industrial rock, such as ministry, skinny puppy, kmfdm, and my life with the thrill kill kult, doomsday virus fused and forged together elements from the fringes of the underground music scene to create a sound that simultaneously incorporates, yet defies the several genres it spans.

upon the release of 2005's "catastrophic error" the virus took the stage for the first time, enlisting the help of live musicians p4wl (synths) and j0hn (guitar) along the way. the next 5 years were spent infiltrating every crack and crevice of the u.s. northeast. from buffalo to philadelphia, providence to columbus, the band shared the stage with several legends of the goth industrial scene, such as: chemlab, 16 volt, bella morte, psyclon nine, and android lust.

the intensity picked up in 2008 with the release of "drink the kool-aid", which introduced new guitarist, raHb, to the fold. this was the first truly collaborative record in the band's history, with every member contributing to the writing process. the album was recorded entirely at slaughterhouse studio in western massachusetts and mastered by none other than david din of corrosive audio.

in 2010 the band embarked on a tour with fellow industrial rockers, streak, in a late summer rampage across several unsuspecting cities. after the tour, with their personal lives in varied states of disarray, the band played two final "farewell" shows, fittingly, in albany and buffalo before taking an "indefinite hiatus".

in the meantime n.dru was recruited as lead vocalist for thrash/black metal outfit "ov dust", with whom he has recorded and performs with still. rahb immersed himself in several other musical and artistic endeavors, while p4wl reset his focus to family life.

finally, in late 2012, the band started discussing the possibly of a reunion. j0hn was invited back, not to replace, but to play alongside raHb. rehearsals were held, new ideas tossed around, and the virus slowly began to crawl out of remission...
